1225 Christmas Tree Lane Cedar Cove Debbie Macomber 9780778312697 Books

If you want to read a really bad Hallmark movie, this is the book for you. I've read every Cedar Cove novel and it seems that Ms. Macomber took a vacation from writing. SPOILERS: The main story characters are never properly fleshed out. I couldn't connect with them emotionally (particularly the father) even though they were experiencing an emotionally charged situation. The two college aged daughters behaved and spoke as if they were 10-13 yr olds instead, scheming to get their divorced parents back together by lying to them. Then there's the stereotyped "other woman" that the father brings with him. You know, the pampered princess that can't cook and doesn't like to get dirty. In actuality, she's not really the grlfriend and dad is just using her to make mom jealous. In the end they figure out that the divorce was a big mistake and they automatically become one big happy family, without working out the issues that caused the split in the first place.
The sub-plots concerning the other Cedar Cove characters are present (somewhat). Basically, you get a synopsis of every single Cedar Cove book. "Remember when such and such happened a few years ago?" I ended up just skimming those parts.
So, in conclustion, this book had the potential to be good but failed miserably.

1225 Christmas Tree Lane Cedar Cove Debbie Macomber 9780778312697 Books Reviews

What a wonderful book to read, especially over the holidays. The characters are all great and even if you haven’t read other Cedar Cove books you can jump right in and not feel you missed anything.

Do yourself a favor and enjoy this book and all the fabulous feelings it brings.
All is sweet Christmas time in Cedar Cove, life has a way of working out. Emphasis on two or three couples getting remarried after being divorced is a bit overwhelming for me, as I was divorced for 15 years. My ex-husband and I wouldNever get remarried and I don’t think we ever really considered it. So I find that aspect to be extremely unrealistic. Otherwise, it’s a great novel.
As all other Cedar Cove books this one follows in old love being renewed and new love being found. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were truly a real Cedar Cove. Love the series keeping up with the families. It's like I know them all. Can't wait to start the next book. So happy Rachel and Jolene worked their out problems( even if I did want to slap the smart know it all 13 year old many times) Haha
Book Description

The people of Cedar Cove know how to celebrate Christmas. Like Grace and Olivia and everyone else, Beth Morehouse expects this Christmas to be one of her best. Her small Christmas tree farm is prospering, her daughters and her dogs are happy and well, and her new relationship with local vet Ted Reynolds is showing plenty of romantic promise.
But...someone recently left a basket filled with puppies on her doorstep, puppies she's determined to place in good homes. That's complication number one. And number two is that her daughters, Bailey and Sophie, have invited their dad, Beth's long-divorced husband, Kent, to Cedar Cove for Christmas. The girls have visions of a mom-and-dad reunion dancing in their heads.
As always in life--and in Cedar Cove--there are surprises, too. More than one family's going to have a puppy under the tree. More than one scheme will go awry. And more than one romance will have a happy ending.
My Review

This Book is the final book originated in Cedar Cove, Washington by my favorite author, Debbie Macomber.

I loved this book so much, I couldn't hardly put the book down. She told everyone's story in bits and pieces and she did a GREAT job. The main story is about Beth Morehouse who has been divorced from her husband for 3 years and how their 2 daughters connive and work to try to get them back together is something else. But, they really didn't need the 2 daughters at all, because sparks fly. I won't say anything else or else I will ruin the book for you.

I just loved this book, Debbie Macomber is the best authors ever. You will not be sorry if you will pick up this book soon and read it. Thank you Debbie Macomber for giving us all these books in this series and I truly wish there were more. Please Debbie, give us another series like this soon. I love your books so much.l
Generally speaking I look forward to Macomber's Christmas tales. They are a pleasant escape from my everyday life and are interesting looks into other people's lives. I have to say that I have not read any of the other books in this particular series. Maybe that is why I could not connect with this particular Christmas tale nor the characters (I did not know enough about their background). I'm not sure because I look at some of the other reviews and wonder if this volume was simply a little bit less interesting. I have to say that I just found this story a bit boring. It did not seem to have any "pizazz" to the writing and I had trouble keeping up with the characters (but again, that is probably my fault for not reading the other stories in the series).
I liked the idea of the dogs/puppies being given away for Christmas and really, the puppies on the cover of the book sold me on reading this novel. As cute as the dogs are, they really took a back seat to the characters but somehow, the daughter's planning to get their mom and dad together for Christmas, the dad's female "friend" that really turned out to be a friend and nothing else, the way the mom just dropped her vet boyfriend and him already having another woman in the wings, just seemed too contrived to me. Oh well, I have to agree with one of the other reviewers, it obviously is sort of a sad way to end a series especially with all the good things said about the other books in the series.
